ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN [FIVE] - JOURNEY

 

[2013] CONCEPT - The introduction of a prototype Design Hub aimed at developing and promoting locally talented citizens. To re-introduce opportunity and night life in the city center by focusing on the deteriating arcades, safety, cross programming and segmentation of neighbouring buildings.

 

The building should form part of a research program to understand and produce alternative methods of rejuvenation in the CBD.

 

Similar to Arts on Main, the building should promote the production of local items.

 

CURRENT SITUATION - Safety issues. 

Minimal variation in income classes. The CBD has been replaced by the - American dream (Suburbia).

Personality-free shops rather than handmade unique product shops.

Public amenities and parks are located outside the CBD. 

 

FUTURE EXPECTENCY - Joe Noero spent a considerable amount of time exploring and understanding Red Location before designing the Red Location Centre. The Design Hub will be a place to study the city, document its happenings and provide an intricate understanding of the city’s operation.
